BMW ProSummer X-Trafit Gloves

Just bought these. Revzilla matched BOB's BMW price of $139. Looks like the best value out there presently.

Anyone have them too? How do you like them?

I've got 2 pair of the BMW ProSummer gloves but of the earlier version. Both pair have served me well so far. Don't need these if you avoid the rain. Also have a pair the BMW ProWinter gloves I use in the early spring and late fall. Have a very early version of the ProWinter gloves I use for snow blowing now as gore-tex has failed. The small rubber wiper on the left index finger works well to clear rain off the face shield.

Thanks Darrell. Sounds like I made a good purchase. I do also like the wiper on the left forefinger and the 2 suede patches on the left thumb. With my new Gore-Tex kit I don't expect to be avoiding rain. For the cooler months I may use a glove liner as I don't believe I will go for the winter version.

a few years ago I found the Lee Parks Design gloves were perfect for me. The short, tan colored, deer skin gloves work amazingly well in the summertime, even though the material has no ventilation holes. I assume the magic is in the light color.

Those look nice. What were you wearing before? I've had a pair of the Held Airstream 2 gloves, for the last 2 summers, which work well for me. Had some Cycle Gear winter gloves for the cooler temps, but they were too bulky and didn't do such a great job. But, after a conversation with Mark (on the Helen trip) I picked up some BMW 2 in 1 gloves. So far, in the mixed up weather conditions of Fall & Winter here in NC, they have been great! Doing a wonderful job of keeping the digits comfortable in the cold (27F) and breathing reasonably well in the heat (82F). The right glove is usually more difficult to find than boots, for me anyway.

I believe these are the gloves I have presently - Tourmaster Dri-Mesh Gloves. Got them from a local motorcycle shop here in Houston and you know how bad their selections are.

I've had a pair of the Held Airstream 2 gloves, for the last 2 summers, which work well for me.

The Held Airstream II Gloves are indeed nice. But they don't claim to be waterproof. I was looking for waterproof gloves. I like the two tone color scheme of these Helds though.

I have the REV'IT! Sand 3 Gloves for dry summer use. Nice and cool, but watch the stiching. Had to return one pair under warranty.

My [Houston-grade] winter gloves are still the old inexpensive Bilt (?) gloves I got from Cycle Gear when I first got back into motorcycling in 2014. They work well and are comfortable and are still holding up!

I agree that gloves are a tougher find than boots ... hands are more varied between people than feet, I think. Especially finger length vs palm circumference. I think they need to also use finger length in their sizing charts. Seems like most gloves are made for chimps (Alpinestars come to mind).

I do remember Mark extolling the virtues of the BMW 2-in-1 gloves as we waited in the gas station parking lot for a certain Bob who had gone missing ....

Yeh, the Held Airstreams are most certainly not waterproof, as I can attest to after an 8 hour journey in a monsoon, lol.

If I ever find a pair to try on I think I would like the Lee Park Sumo R for my every day glove.

For my every day glove I like all leather, armor, unlined without any vents and have a gauntlet.
It also needs a wiper blade. I can't tell if the Sumo R has a wiper.

Lee, no wiper blades on these gloves. I have the DeerTours, DeerSports, and DeerSports PCI. Size medium. The PCI insulation works very well, they claim it is particularly good at spreading heat from the grips and I believe it, but insulation in general is not my favorite and I use the Tours and Sports most of the time.

They are not water proof. But very comfortable.

Lee. I'll probably get the Deer Tours Outseam, That looks like what I had before. I don't have big hands, so likely in large. Will use the glove sizing chart on the web site. I carry separate goretex gloves for rain rides. You are welcome to try them on :-)

Gloves arrived today and they are very nice indeed. All the fingers are a bit long and the gloves are new-stiff but I suspect when the creases show up through to use, the fingers will shorten and better fit my stumpy fingers. The fit across the palm is perfect.

This is my first BMW-branded purchase since the bike, and were chosen because they appeared to be the best value at the moment. I have no real allegiance to the brand.

Most of the time when a Gore-Tex membrane is used you don't see it.
On your gloves the membrane is probably bonded to the outer layer of the gloves.
On your Klim jacket if you look through the open mesh liner you can see what the membrane looks like.

Agreed. The X-trafit GoreTex is attached to the glove itself so that it does not pull out as the hand is withdrawn, and I can attest that it performs as designed.

Pleased with the glove ... and with all my GoreTex gear. Now just have to worry about sweating to death in hot months.
