12k Service
#21
Yes, you missed us. We left Sparta at 5:45 AM for the long drive to upstate NY. Rats, would have been great to meet up with you. Perhaps you'll be able to make it to START next year? It's already on my calendar. ?

I agree. I wonder how his rates compare with the dealer, though. Personal touch is great and all but if his costs are significantly higher than the dealer then it may not make as much sense for some.

Easy enough to compare cost. There was no charge for this service.

Can't beat that. What's in it for him then, if you can say here ...?

Absolutely Lee. He truly enjoys working on the bikes and maintaining friendships from when he was riding. Brad's really just a great guy. I've gotten to know him and we've been to his home, visiting with him and his wife.

Motorhead1977, that’s exactly the vibe I experienced, the few short hours i spent with Brad. Just a quick revision to the spec sheet from my pics. That should be Purolator filter #PBL10241, not 10421. Had a dyslexic moment, lol.

#Duccrazydave, I'm now using that filter based on Brad's recommendation. I had to modify the stainless bottom engine spoiler on my RS as there wasn't enough clearance behind the spoiler to use the longer length filter. Not an issue anymore.

How did you cut it?
I've been tempted to cut ours so it's not in the way when changing the oil filter.
Not sure I trust myself to cut a nice radius.

I marked the line and used it tin snip to get the rough cut, followed by grinding with a "Dremel" tool to get the radius smooth. I didn't cut it enough so I don't have to remove it, but only enough so it fits. I may change the cut to what you're suggesting.

Only four screws to remove it.

I'm really lazy Big Grin

I remove 3 screws and let it pivot down from the rear screw.
