If you have the bike in for service make sure the shop does not touch them.

Do you have a rear stand ordered? Pit Bull makes good quality stands.

Thanks for the tip about the LED turn signals. The bike did not come with LEDs ... he put them on so unless they are the police I don't see how they can remove my LED signals. Doubt that they would do anything without my knowledge though.

I am looking at front and rear stands and PitBull stands are one of the best. However my "cheap gene" is directing me elsewhere, I had Cycle Gear stands before for my Honda and they were perfectly fine. Should have kept them but I threw them in when I sold the Honda.

Congratulations on the S1000R! I enjoyed your review and found a # of your positive and negative comments you mention were also applicable to the S1000RRs I have ridden.

Thanks for the tip about the LED turn signals. The bike did not come with LEDs ... he put them on so unless they are the police I don't see how they can remove my LED signals. Doubt that they would do anything without my knowledge though.

Sometimes car and motorcycle shops will do a recall and not tell the customer until after the work is done.
In some cases a recall is required.
I talked to the owner of my shop and told them unless there was a legal problem to not change our back to the regular turn signals.
I see the 2020 models now have larger LED turn signals and wonder if they meet the US standards now of a certain size of reflective area.
The BMW LEDs we have and you have are too small for US requirements.

Get the larger bar end weights, it will reduce the vibrations a little.

Another suggestions is $50 TPMS from Amazon: "SYKIK Rider SRTP300 Wireless tire Pressure Monitoring System for Motorcycles with 1.5” Monitor." It works pretty well.

Of course, I still have my RS, so we have a similar duo. It looks great. Enjoy.

Thanks for the tip for the SYKIK TPMS system for motorcycles on Amazon. I suspect that it may not work with my r/angle valve stems though, since these are on the rim and not on the spoke like on the RS - might not be enough clearance for the sensors.

Yes we do have a similar choice of motos to ride, engine wise.

Nice video Wayne. Certainly a different bike than the boxer RS. Haven’t ever rode a recent 4 cylinder model so I can’t say anything looked unusual except I did notice the area where generally the speed appears tiling occurs blurring the numbers which must happen at certain speeds or is caused by vibrations.

You may not need heavier weights. All the bar vibration complaints I heard were on the early years XR. Have not heard complaints on the S1000R and S1000RR.
A friend used to do 500 mile days on his S1000RR and did not complain about bar vibration.
Only complaints I heard was the hot frame on your legs you mentioned.
Some people put carbon fiber frame covers on to insulate your legs a little from the heat.

I to have not heard odd significant complaints about vibration in these bikes, but you do have to remember that they’re not used for long rides like we do. Your friend is the exception, although some in Europe claim they go on tour with these bikes so who knows. All I know is that on my 4 hour ride on Thursday (has 3 stops) tingling was not an issue. Fatigue in the wrists were a bit more of an issue but that just means I have to use my new StompGrips tank pads more.

Good tip on the frame covers to quell the heat a little.

Yes, clearance for the sensor might indeed be a problem on the front wheel. Mine works fine but it has about zero clearance with the brake caliper. Here is a picture.

How much clearance is there to the caliper?

Here is a better picture to show how close the pressure sensing cap comes to the brake caliper. I am guessing I can slide a sheet of paper between the two. Also, in this picture you might be able to see that the closer the valve stem is to the rim, the more likely it is that it will miss the brake caliper.
