Givi Top Case With Factory Side Cases
#1
Hi fellow motorcyclists, new owner of a 21 R1250RS here. I have the factory BMW side cases and I would like to mount a top case. BMW's top case is pretty small and having had Givi in the past I decided to go with a V47. But the 5117FZ mounting rack kit made for 1250R/RS uses the same subframe mounting points as the factory side cases. Looks like an either/or situation.

Does anyone have experience mounting a Givi top case with factory side cases?

Is there another way to mount a Givi M7 Monokey plate, such as using the factory top case plate?

Thanks in advance,

Big O

Funny you should ask. I have the factory panniers (side cases) and use a Givi V47 shared between both bikes. I use the Givi E251 Universal Monokey Top Case Adapter Plate which works perfectly. It is also cost effective. It bolts to the existing rack that comes with the bike.

Does it bolt to the factory top case mount? I don't have that, I only have factory pannier mounts. Unless there is something very well integrated that I'm not seeing.

Thanks,

What Grumpy showed is made to attach to the OEM rear rack.

Here's the parts you need with part numbers for the rear rack.

Here is a used setup for sale. Maybe seller would sell rack without the pannier mounts if you have those already

I still need the monokey mounting plate (such as M7) to go on top of the adapter plate, correct?

No. The Universal plate IS the mounting plate.

You simply clip that on to your RS rear rack as shown in the pictures, then place the V47 on top of that Universal mounting plate and click it into place. No more pieces to buy provided you have the RS rear rack.

My bike came with the BMW rear rack. If yours did not then Darrell pointed you in the right direction on the ADV forum for a second hand one for sale. You need that to be able to mount the Givi Universal rack on top.
