Cool idea! It's hard to believe that BMW part is only $30, lol.

Shhhhh. BMW are listening and will raise the price! I know I was stunned when I saw the price. Now I'm going to look into building storage racks for the side cases as well. (I expect it will be more difficult)

A note for anyone else who's going to do this. Mount the rack low enough on the wall that you can see and/or easily reach the key lock. Mine's too tall so I have to do a semi blind insert of the key to remove the top box from the rack. I'll be positioning it lower on the wall over the coming week.

Nice idea. Knowing how clumsy I can be I’d probably drop it hanging it up.

Can't you just mount it pointed the other direction?

Good idea, and it would probably be a tad easier to latch in place as well. But I can see why he mounted it as high as he could, to get it out of the way and have more clearance underneath. I have 2 sets of panniers I'd love to mount on a wall somewhere. Trouble is, in my garage there is no wall space free.

I suppose it would be possible. When I set it up since the forward located mounting tabs on the top box slide into and latch in the matching holes in the rack attachment it seemed a more secure way for placing it on the wall mount when storing and retrieving it. Since the top box is not that heavy I imagine reversing it wouldn't be an issue. I'll try rotating the wall mount 180* way when I move it and report back.
