Hi, geezer rider (almost 70) from San Francisco Bay Area, riding since the Summer of Love, some competition, touring, dirt, but mostly back roads and coastal curves.

My 2022 RS is currently floating across the pond, I have an '18 R1200R that I am trying to decide if I can afford to keep as 4th bike. Others are '07 Hinckley Bonneville, KTM Duke 690. I love luxury problems!

Otherwise, the usual retired deal. Wife, dog, flyfishing. I'll be doing some light touring on the RS, and if I trade in my R12R then it will be doing most of my general riding duties.

My bike should be here within the next week or two. Am I getting excited? Hell yeah...

Yes, I can see you are excited to get the new RS, and although you already have a wasser boxer in the R1200R, is cousin the RS will be differently just as nice, but with more power. Whether that is enough to push the R out ... only you can tell. Naked bikes are special but practicality is also important.

Red R1200R on the R forum?
If you can afford it and have the garage space you might want to keep it for your twisty local roads. The R is a little quicker steering.

I'd like to have both, but I'd be over my self-imposed limit of 3 motors. I like having the Bonneville for smashing around the city. If it gets tipped or even stolen, my heart won't break. And I've come to really appreciate the goofy, un-civilized little KTM690....so I am at the edge of a Dilemma.
I wanted the R1200R to be the do it all, but anytime I get over 70mph, there hasn't been a solution to the wind blast issue. My 70 year old neck wore out from years of sport bike ergos and is no longer tolerant of getting yanked about.

Well, I got a reasonable offer from my dealer. And I have made the decision to let the Red R1200R make it's way to a new owner. Tough choice! I had the R out on one of my favorite backroads last week and it really feels "right" for me. But, I can always hunt down another if I can't live without an R. Except I doubt another red one will come my way. Love that red! I do have to get the system cases re-keyed for my new bike/key. It's nice that the luggage gride is the same as the 2018 bikes. I got them by way of an Accessories Incentive, so I am glad to be able to keep them. Plain gray, but will be fine on the White bike.

I've also been riding my Duke690 a bit more, and I have to say, it's a great backroads blaster, 315lbs, 70HP and gobs of One-Lung Torque. Finally my Bonneville is a reliable town bike, and already has a bit of rash to prove it.
I may do some serious modding to the Bonneville, I picked it up about 10 years back for 2500 so making it more like a "cafe" bike might be fun. Plenty of Aftermarket stuff out there.
I am thinking about a new paint scheme, too. British Racing Green with polished stainless front fender, and stripes.

My RS "might be in L.A." according to the dealer, but no one knows for sure.....
