Cylinder Guards
#1
I've been shopping for some cylinder guards and a left hand valve cover after a slide that damaged the left side of my 2018 R1200RS. I see that some manufacturers list the R1200/R/RT/GS and RS as compatible and some manufactures don't list the RS. Is this an oversight or is there really a difference between the cylinders on these models.

All liquid-cooled boxer 1200 motors use the same covers.

Like Mr.Vvrrooomm said, all the 1200s use the same covers. Those manufacturers who don't list the RS apparently aren't aware of the RS as a BMW "R" model ... wonder how that happened ...  Huh

On the sites that don't show the covers for the RS you may be looking at the pre 2013 R1200.
Those 1200s have a different head.

Once you find your valve cover, Machine Art Moto XHeads are an excellent protection option. If you're so inclined, I have a set of Krauser tubular bars that need a home.

@Duccrazydave, do those Krauser bars require longer cables and will they work on a 1250 RS?

I think he's talking about engine protection bars.

Right, Lee. Sorry, Motorhead 1977, I was responding to the cylinder head protection part of dravnx's post. The bars are for the R1200RS.
