Too clear up a misconception, the LED light warning issue is not a Canbus issue. The ECU monitors the current draw of the light and throws an alert/code if it senses too much (a short) or too little (blown bulb) current between the ECU and the various bulbs on the bike. The Canbus system is strictly a communication system that allows the ECU to communicate with the display. It has nothing to do with the ECU monitoring the current draw of the bulbs I .don't know where or why "Canbus compatible bulbs" got it's moniker.

I found this information useful and it makes sense to me. Either way I get an error using the same bulb as Dave who did not get an error. Yes the bulbs could have been manufactured differently, but I suspect that the different data OR electrical load profiles are leading to the error. I am no electronics engineer so I have to defer to what the research tells me.

I have ordered these resistors to try off of Amazon. The other option is a "decoder" but I like the heat sink on the resistors.
If they work I will add wire to install the heat sinks outside of the headlight housing. Denali makes an adaptor for the 194 Led but cost twice as much.

Up dated pictures
I finaly received the parking light resistor adaptor in the mail. I quickly popped the LEDs out and installed the inline reistors. Amazon.ca VICTORY! the warning light is no more. Now I plan on a final install which will include; -Extending the resistors wiring on both sides of the resistor with connectors to allow the mounting of the resistors to a small aluminum plate outside of the headlight housing. -Drilling a small hole into each side of the headlights plasitc screw covers with an appropreate grommet to allow the resistor wire to pass through. -Fab up aluminum plate and mount somewhere close to headlight with cooling in mind.

Very nice. Pictures are tiny though. If you are not sure how to resize them email them to me and I will resize them.

Here’s a pic of where I mounted the headlight canbus adapters on my ‘16RS. Very secure with zip ties. This may be an option for your resistors, if the leads are long enough

I found Auxito headlightLEDs that are plug and play (without code) that work with the CanSmart controller from Denali . I just could not find LED parking lights that work without aftermarket kit.

As usual I found myself over thinking things. I decided to not install connectors and just hard wire the resistor through the headlights cap. If for any reason the resitor fails I can just cut the wires and plug the Parking light into the original socket and move on with an alarm light until I can wire in a new resistor.

That woud have been my approach. Tell me about the grommet in the cap .... how did you fashion that.

The grommet through the headllight cover is a simple drill a hole the right size and push through type.
Here is a picture of how I used bathroom adhesive/chalking to attach it to exisiting structure.

OK thanks. Maybe wrong picture of the grommet ...? but I get the idea
