Thanks Lee.
Yesss....
Dry, possibly cool, and some great roads to and fro.
First site to host 3 rallies - for good reasons.

Over 2000 miles from my house ... Looks like some nice riding to get there though.

If Debbie can ride next year I would like to go. We have not been out to the Northwest since 2003.
I'm guessing 2,000 miles or more taking back roads. Lots of good roads and scenery between here and there.

Is she still not riding due to the toe (or is it foot) problem?

I have never been anywhere north of the LA area on the west coast so that would be a good place to visit but too far, I am afraid.

We went to Arkansas and Texas for 19 days in April and she did pretty good. Kept the days under 300 miles.
She got the one foot fixed in 2021 but decided to not do the other one because of slow painful recovery. (the other foot is tolerable)
What may stop her from riding is the arthritis is curling her fingers on her left hand. She's losing the feel and strength in that hand.
She uses the Hill Start a lot on slopes so she doesn't have to hold the clutch. She also told me she uses the shift assist a lot so she doesn't have to use the clutch.

I have not looked at any bikes with a Dual Clutch. If the shift buttons are on the left grip that may not help.
Off the top of my head the only bike I can think of with DCT is the Honda African Twin.

Awww man. Sorry to hear. I'm especially sympathetic at this point to folks kept off their bike due to mechanical problems with the "upper half" of the motorcycle. And, results of the fixes are a lot more iffy than on the lower half.

Do you plan to be in Doswell/Richmond next month?

Have to say, I love my 2014 Honda Insight with CVT and paddleshifters. I know you guys do a lot of engine braking, and, all I can say is I've had hardly any brake wear in the 50,000 miles I've put on it to date.

Honda has an NC 750 with DCT..., but like everything these days - configured as a "jack of all trades" adventure bike.

I'd also mention the Zero SR/S with Shad luggage ticks a lot of my boxes (at ~$30k) ..., but even with the additional "power tank," unless the farmers' co-ops put in compatible fast chargers, you'd probably be looking at a looong trip to Redmond with lots of extended pre-planned coffee stops along the way. An extra level of adventure. (Did MR and MRSVVRROOMM make the trip by Tesla to the west coast as planned a couple of years ago.)

Not going to Doswell.
I forgot about the NC 750. We talked to a guy on one at Vanderpool Texas last month and Debbie didn't care for the looks of the bike.
It would be nice if Honda had a Sport Tour model with the Africa Twin engine and DCT. The HP and Torque is pretty low compared to the R1250 but at least we would look at it.
If she has to give up on motorcycles I would not mind having a couple Yamaha XMax scooters. 300 cc. Trailer them to places like Arkansas, Wisconsin or Black Hills and do day rides. Right now she's lukewarm on that idea.
Back in the 80s and 90s Debbie had a 200cc Yamaha scooter and I had a 250 Honda scooter.

For those coming to Doswell, let's do a meetup--I'm local (live in Richmond, about 20-30 mins away). Can advise on roads/riding, history touring, and food & such
