Motomate bracket & Nav glare
#1
After installing the Motomate bracket for mounting the Nav. 6 I have been getting glare off of the white gas tank. Due to my size this glare makes it all most
impossible to read the Nav 6. The direct sun reflection has not been a problem and obviously a plastic sun shade would do nothing for my problem.
I was placing my left had over the tank and moving my head around to get a view of the GPS, hardly ideal.
So I made up a bottom glare blocker out of aluminum and painted it flat black. I have installed it but not tried it out yet.

Looks like a bespoke piece, if a bit odd ... Big Grin But hey, if it helps you see the Nav VI better then that is what matters. The Nav VI does have a very glossy screen and is prone to glare, and despite the 2000 NITS brightness of the screen, if there is a bunch of glare you still can't see the darned thing. I take it you can't change the angle of the Nav VI ...?

The 1/8 aluminum sides were square cuts to begin with but I had to trim them down from the rear flange (rigidity and safety) to the first bend and then angle the cut out to the second bend. This makes clearance for the brake and clutch revivor when reaching steering lock. Rubber washers were made up to fill the space on the screws that came with the Motomate bracket and used removable loctite once GPS angle was correct.
Still have not tried it but it has to be better than before.
And no GG I haven't been able to find the correct angle with the stock parts. I must be special lol. I really don't notice it much when sitting on the bike. I hope it works 8P

Not being familiar with the Moto-mate bracket I thought it might be adjustable for angle and looking at your photo #1 it looks like it is a solid piece and the angle of the Nav VI is fixed. However, this photo from their website suggests that it might be adjustable. I guess the range of adjustability is not working for you ...?

I installed a screen protector (Screen Angels, believe they are out of UK) on my Nav VI and it has a matte surface with less glare, you might try that.

Once you settle into your ridding position it will be interesting to see if the glare shield will block the upper part of the dash.

With some adjustment the tank glare screen works as intended. Only one small glare line from the first flange bend.
I will try a strip of black rubber tape or texture to get rid of that.
There is but not much room for steering lock, hydraulic revivor clearance.
I can see all screens with a touch of head movement.
