Sounds like the curvature is indeed playing a part in Motorhead1977's fitment issue, if you are measuring 138 mm (5.4") high and he is measuring 140 mm (5.5") high.

Here is what I sourced from Motografix in the UK.  The size is more to my liking as the pads received from Aliexpress were far larger than I wanted extending further forward on the tank which based on their posted photos wasn't clear to me until I had them in hand.  While they did have tank pads for the Triple Black and Red/White/Blue versions of the 1250 RS they didn't have a set for the Austin Yellow color.  However, on my inquiry they were pleased to develop these., working directly with me.  All in all I am very satisfied and recommend Motografix without hesitation. I don't want extra badging on my bike but now I want to ride in Japan.

Those look very nice and match the bike really well. Love the look!
