E-Key

Bought my 2023 RS today and they told me it only came with one key. Anyone else? No fing E key.

Does your new bike have Keyless Ride or does it use a physical metal key? If it's not Keyless Ride the of course there's no E-key, or are you referring to the Emergency key? If you're referring to the Emergency key to use if your remote key fob dies then of course you should have received that.

Bikes without keyless used to come with 2 keys.
I saw on another forum where a guy with a keyless bike did not receive a plastic emergency key.
The dealer told him it was because of the chip shortage. No idea if this is true.

I don't like the idea of going for a ride without the emergency key.
If you have a keyless bike, tether the fob to your pants so you can't lose it.

...I carry two fobs and use both belt and suspenders (yeah, I know, expensive, but I always ask of a bike's components, what could possibly go wrong?). And I'm with Lee. Battery change about every 17,000 miles (along with a new headlight bulb - as now-a-days, they seem to have a very predictable life span of ~300+ h).

One fob's zippered into the pants; one fob's zippered into the coat with the back-up wallet and emergency key.. The simple, non-electric key for luggage generally stays in the seat lock, so I don't have to look for it.

Of course, one of us avoids all worry, and simply leaves his key in the tank bag.
No muss, no fuss.
Never lost.
Never left behind.
Never falls out of a pocket.

Are you saying it shipped without a fob and plastic emergency key ?

I never liked the idea of keeping keys in my pants or jacket vs in the tank bag.  One would never leave home and go riding without their tank bag but they might leave home without their pants or wear their favorite dealership free T-shirt vs the jacket.

Of course the entry level of BMW R models being the RS (and R), to keep costs down they could not afford a cubby hole up by the TFT screen like they added on the RT models where you can keep your keys.
