Fall Foliage 2022
#1
Went for a ride to the Northeast Kingdom yesterday and this morning to see the Foliage, which is about peak up there.  Best colors in years to my eye.  Here's pics:

Very nice Bob. Nothing like that here of course. I so miss Canada in the Fall. But then that passes as I ride all winter long. Big Grin

Good to see you out and about on the bike. Any second thoughts ...?? Smile

The photos are even better now that I'm on the desktop with a big screen.
My two younger sisters are out there now to visit a Niece in Mass and one of my older sisters in NH.
Sounds like they picked a good time for the visits.

That's a nice ride from where you're at. Beautiful country the NE Kingdom. We don't get up there very often as we usually run up through the Adirondacks from here. Thanks for the pictures.

Bob - thanks for setting the good example. Currently in southern Ohio - colors pretty good, but about 7-10 days from peak.

Will be in running the Greenville SC area at the end of the month for some training, as I recover from last springs injuries and orhtopedic issues. Hopefully, the cool midwest weather won't accelerate the colors in the mountains there.

Glad to see you are still giving the RS some exercise. Still for sale?

I was very surprised that there were almost no cars on the road. Seems leaf peeping is a thing of the past? I did have trouble finding a place to stay.

I'll be in Barre VT next weekend (driving the mighty 4cyl Tacoma), so I'll likely see New England foliage a bit off peak........

Right - leaf-peeping from a gas-guzzler on the road is now more expensive than sitting on the porch of the inn with drinks and food...?

The foliage can distract the rider, but foliage season room rates are a lot more painful than the cost of fuel.......

My sister had the bright idea of a late October vacation in VT to do some house hunting (she's thinking of a retirement relocation).  $300 per night midweek for a hotel room was an eye-opener for her.  This past summer, reservations were often required at restaurants when I was doing remodeling work for my niece.

Like women, pretty places can be expensive.........

If this is next week, the low temps in VT are predicted to be 33~36 degrees each night.

I call that bracing...

From New England with some years in Minnesota...., the end of every summer in St. Louis (wait - with 80 deg F this Friday, is summer even over?) finds me ready for bracing.

That said - medium touring shield is on, warmer down bag is packed. Biting at the bit to follow Bob's good example in fall travel.

If I find a frozen RS rider on my drive, I'll know his name.........

I'm living tomorrow morning and returning Monday.  Tuesday, I trailer the bike to the dealer (125-miles) for the 36K service.
I knocked, but the door was open.......
