They are sending me one. For a little less than $300, I pulled the trigger.

Good for you. I am pleased with my 702B Pro so far. Lives on the Triumph.

We had a few warm days, recently and I decided to break out the RS, which has been ignored for the last few months. Surprise, my NavVI decided to finally join the ghosting club. Emailed Garmin and had a response within the same day. I’ll get shipping labels late March, as they’re out of stock right now.
One thing I noticed in the email that I don’t think I’ve seen in this (lengthy) thread is the replacement unit will have a capacitive glass touchscreen as opposed to the original resistive layered touchscreen, per their email description.
Guess I’ll find out in a month or so if this is an actual solution to the problem.

Dave, I guess this is your first failure / replacement?
I have had one replacement years ago and so far it has been holding up. At the time when I got mine there was no talk of a replacement screen type (capacitive vs resistive) and I suspect that mine may be the same type as before.

I have 2 Nav VI units. One has the old style screen and other has the new screen. New screen is super sensitive to touch and I find works best with a glove on. I seldom attempt to enter anything on the new screen when moving as you get close to a number or letter it accepts.
Why 2 - found the new one still in the shipping box on Craigs List for $250.

Having traded in my RS, I now have the Nav6 mounted to my new XMax scooter. Worked fine until the last ride, where it refused any and all touch input from the screen. The map was jumping all around and of no use. So the call to Garmin produced immediate offer of replacement. The nice girl said they had found a component that was incompatible and causing this issue. So that's a new explanation to my ear. Anyway, new unit delivers tomorrow. Very happy with the Garmin support on this unit. Most vendors would have given up on it years ago.

I agree and that is why I have stuck with them The navigation is certainly not bulletproof but is still good, especially if one does not have cellular. It is because of this that I provide a mount for it on any bike that I own.
Good to hear that there might be a root cause of the screen issues. Of course when you get your new one we won't know if it is one if the "cured" units or not ...
